A WAY OF LIFE!!!

Hello,

My name is Joe Hok. I am a Suqpiaq (Alutiiq) native from the small village of Old Harbor on Kodiak Island. Having lived the fishing lifestyle for the past forty years. Fishing to me and many others, is more than passion, it's a way life! With a lifetime of knowledge and experience I would love to pass this on to our younger generation of subsistence  and commercial fishermen..

I have worked in every fishery in Alaska from salmon seining, gillnetting, longlining and crabbing. 

 For the past ten years I have overseen the production of hundreds, if not thousands of gillnets for fisherman throughout Alaska. With production and repairing gillnets being a never ending problem.  l would like to remedy this by teaching more of our youth and fishermen of all walks of life, the trades of keeping our culture alive.

Whether you are a commercial fisherman, guide or subsistence fishereman for many of us this is more than a passion, more than a job, it is A WAY OF LIFE!
